Kites For Kids was held on Saturday, May 2, 2009 at the Carnegie Science Center, and reached its goal of having 5,000 kites on display!  (The community was asked throughout the month of April to send in kites and kite drawings to the science center, as well as to bring them in person to the event on Saturday, May 2.  The goal of 5,000 kites symbolizes the number of children in Allegheny County served each year by KidsVoice)...Kites For Kids featured kite-making crafts for kids, kite-flying demonstrations inside and outside the venue, as well as musical performances throughout the day from artists like Frank Cappelli, Sarah Marince, Kelsey Friday & The Rest of the Week, Jamie Bruno, and a CAPA student voice ensemble.  Publicly addressing the assembled members of the community at this event were Congressman Tim Murphy, and Allegheny County Chief Executive Dan Onorato accompanied by KidsVoice Spokeswoman Shelly Onorato...For information on how YOU can help KidsVoice achieve its goals of caring for the nearly 5,000 abused & neglected children each year in Allegheny County, please click on the "How To Help" tab at the top of our KidsVoice homepage!
